Artist Christopher GarrepyChristopher Garrepy is a senior vocal performance major at USM studying with Ellen Chickering. A native of Burrillville, Rhode Island, before attending USM, he studied with Roberta Janelle Bishop. He was a featured soloist at the Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Orchestra opera concert in 2014 and was the alto soloist for Mozart’s Regina Coeli in G and Bach’s cantata 106 at Providence College. During his time at USM, he was selected as a winner of the Concerto Competition 2016 and the USM Honors Recital 2016. He was also the recipient of the 2016 Eleanor Erdman and Diane Nixon Vocal Excellence Prize 2016 and Ezra Rachlin Prize 2017 from Bay Chamber Concerts and was awarded the Lillian Nordica Award Scholarship 2016. He sang the role of Ottone in the USM opera workshop’s performance of Monteverdi’s Coronation of Poppea and was featured as the role of Orfeo in St. Mary Schola’s performance of Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice in 2017. Along with studying solo repertoire, Christopher has also sung in multiple choral ensembles in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Maine including: Ecclesia Consort of New England, Beneficia Lucis, Schola Cantorum Sanctae Caeciliae, I Cantori of Providence College, The Chamber Singers of USM, St Mary Schola, and the Brookline Consort.
