Patrick Volker graduated with honors from VanderCook College of Music in May 2011 as a music education major, specializing in choral music. He taught music and directed high school choirs for 5 years in Chicago Public Schools before moving to Portland, Maine, in October 2016. He currently teaches music and directs the choirs at Scarborough High School. In 2019, Patrick earned a graduate degree in choral conducting from the University of Southern Maine. He has also performed as a soloist with the Portland Bach Festival, Portland Early Music Festival, and ChoralArt Camerata. Before moving to Maine, Patrick sang in several choral ensembles around Chicago. These included the Chicago Symphony Chorus, Constellation Men’s Ensemble, Innova Singers, Irish Heritage Singers, and Saints Faith, Hope, and Charity Parish Choir of Wilmette. He was a founding member of Innova Singers and Peregrine Vocal Ensemble. Singing with these ensembles shapes his musicianship and helps provide new perspectives on how to best teach his students.
