Robert Stoddard

Robert Stoddard, bass-baritone, joins St. Mary’s Schola for the second time at this concert, having recently sung Handel’s Messiah with the Schola. In Maine he has performed with Zenith Ensemble, Dirigo Ensemble, Portland Bach Experience, ChoralArt and Masterworks Chorale, both as soloist and chorister. He tours internationally with Mastersingers USA, winner of the men’s choral division in the 2000 Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod.  Previously in New York City, he performed and recorded with the Robert DeCormier Singers, the New York Choral Society, and Sine Nomine Singers. Mr. Stoddard studied voice with Rodney Gisick at Amherst College and with Gerold Sienna at Yale. He is a past president of the board of directors of ChoralArt and the vice-president of the Friends of the Kotzschmar Organ. Professionally, he is senior advisor, low carbon assets, with bp P.L.C. He lives with his wife in Portland, where they are active at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church and singing from The Sacred Harp
